Nevada is a “OSHA approved state-plan" state - that is, its state plan is an OSHA-approved workplace safety and health program operated by the state of Nevada. The state plan covers both private sector and government workers, is monitored by OSHA, and must be at least as effective as OSHA in protecting workers and in preventing work-related injuries, illnesses and deaths. As per the state plan, every employer across Nevada must have a written occupational health and safety program in place covering the 7 core OSHA elements. Nev. Admin. Code § 618-538 - 544 requires employers with more than 10 employees or that manufacture explosives to develop a written workplace safety program.
